Sperling hits 100 points as Morristown-Beard girls reach Librera Cup final

Morristown-Beard junior Jessica Sperling recorded the 100th point of her high school career when she scored the game-winning power play goal to lift top-seeded Morristown-Beard to a 3-0 win over fourth-seeded Princeton Day in the semifinals of the inaugural Librera Cup at Twin Oaks Ice Rink.

The win advanced Morristown-Beard to Thursday’s final, where it will face the winner of Tuesday’s semifinal between second-seeded Pingry and sixth-seed Trinity Hall. The final is slated for 6:15 p.m. at Codey Arena on Thursday.

Sperling has 21 goals and 13 assists to her name so far in 2022-23. For her career, she has 59 goals and 41 assists for an exact total of 100 points.

Kailin Kane added another goal late in the second period, before sealing the win with an empty-net goal. Gracie Meyers stopped all 25 shots she faced to earn the shutout.

Morristown-Beard improved to 11-4-3 with the victory.
