Jan. 4 roundup: Delbarton wins 4th in a row; Stecker records 100th point for Morristown-Beard girls

TUESDAY, JANUARY 4

Delbarton 5, Gloucester Catholic 2
Duncan Stewart had a goal and an assist to lead Delbarton to a 5-2 win over Gloucester Catholic at SportsCare Arena.

Nick Faccone and Trip Pendy each had two assists for Delbarton, which improved to 9-1-1 and won its fourth-straight game. It also improved to 5-1-1 in the Gordon Conference.

Dan D’Alessandro, Jack Genovese and Max Pendy each had a goal for Delbarton. Jason Cai stopped 18 of 20 shots to earn the win.

Northern Highlands 6, Morristown-Beard 3
Noah Jones netted two goals for Morristown-Beard, but the Crimson fell, 6-3 to Northern Highlands at Twin Oaks Ice Rink.

Jones gave his team the lead early in the first period, but the Crimson surrendered five-straight goals to fall to a 5-1 deficit. Charlie Guida had a shorthanded goal in the third period, but the Crimson never got closer than three goals in this one against one of the state’s top public school teams.

Andrew Low had two assists and Guida had a goal and an assist for Morristown-Beard, which dropped to 5-4.

Girls: Morristown-Beard 9, Westfield 0
Leah Stecker scored four goals, including her 100th career point, to lead Morristown-Beard to a 9-0 win over Westfield in the team’s first game in 22 games, at Warinanco Skating Center.

Jessica Sperling and Kailin Kane each had a goal and two assists for Morristown-Beard, which improved to 4-0 despite the long layoff. Lili Warnock had a goal and an assist and Brooklyn Chen dished out two assists.

Gracie Meyers stopped all seven shots she faced to earn the shutout.
