Jan. 3 roundup: Newton-Lenape Valley rallies for tie with Montville; Pope John falls

MONDAY, JANUARY 3

Newton-Lenape Valley 3, Montville 3
Ryan Lynch netted two goals, including the game-tying goal with 1:23 remaining, as Newton-Lenape Valley earned a 3-3 tie with Montville at Mennen Arena.

Aidan Urbano also scored for Newton-Lenape Valley, which erased a 2-0 first period deficit with a goal from Lynch in the final minute of the first, followed by Urbano’s tally in the second period.

Trey Baresich had a goal and an assist for Montville, while Cameron Potter and Matthew Trifari each chipped in with a goal. David Zappe made 36 saves for Newton-Lenape Valley, and Alexis Riley stopped 16 shots for Montville.

Montville is now 0-10-1, while Newton-Lenape Valley is 2-5-2.

Princeton Day 4, Pope John 1
Owen Lapinski scored the lone goal for Pope John in a 4-1 loss to Princeton Day at Skylands Ice World.

Tyler Paluzzi made 20 saves for Pope John, which topped Princeton Day, 3-2 in the season-opener on Nov. 29. The Lions fell to 3-3-5 with the loss.
