Dec. 7 roundup: Delbarton ties CBA, Morristown-Beard girls open with win

Delbarton 2, Christian Brothers 2
Delbarton climbed out of an early deficit to earn a 2-2 tie with Christian Brothers at SportsCare Arena in Randolph.

Christian Brothers, ranked No. 2 in the state by NJ.com, received a pair of power play goals from Patrick Reilly with 1:15 left in the first and 11:15 to go in the second. But No. 1 Delbarton responded as Trip Pendy scored an unassisted goal, before Max Pendy scored on a one-timer with 5:10 to go in the second period to tie the game.

Delbarton goalie Jason Cai stopped 20 of 22 shots to continue his strong start to the season. Delbarton, which remains unbeaten at 3-0-1, will face Pingry on Thursday in its next game. A rematch with Christian Brothers is slated for Jan. 12 at Jersey Shore Arena.

Girls: Morristown-Beard 8, Pingry 1
Jessica Sperling had a hat trick for Morristown-Beard in its season opener, as it pulled out an 8-1 win over Pingry at Twin Oaks Ice Rink in Morristown.

Leah Stecker netted two goals, while Julie Jasaitis and Keira Redmond each had two assists for Morristown-Beard. Lilli Warnock and Logan Sutera each recorded a goal and an assist. Kailin Kane added a goal in the win.

Gracie Meyers stopped 14 of 15 shots for Morristown-Beard, which will face Oak Knoll on Thursday.
