Morristown-Beard 5, Mendham 3
Hollis Humphries had a goal and four assists to lead Morristown-Beard, No. 3 in the Morris-Sussex Hockey Report Top 5, to a 5-3 win over Mendham.

It was a bounce-back win for Morristown-Beard after a 7-1 loss to Morris Knolls-Hills on Friday.

After Mendham’s Tristan Aikenhead made it a 2-1 game in the second, Humphries scored to make it 3-1. Griffin Jozefek cut it to 3-2, but that was the closest Mendham would get in the game, as Humphries set up Jones and Billy Moloney for goals to make it a 5-2 game. Liam Lloyd added a goal for Mendham late in the game, but it was unable to complete the comeback.

Noah Jones finished with two goals, Jake Ochab had a goal and two assists, and Billy Moloney had a goal and an assist for Morristown-Beard (3-1). Casey Connor made 16 saves in the win.

The game was knotted up at one early in the second after Matt Hughes’ goal for Pope John (1-1), but Seton Hall’s Severyn Khomyak and Nicholas Schneider each struck to make it a 3-1 game going into the third. Jake Stevens’ power play goal cut it to 3-2 with 6:07 left, but late goals by Seton Hall’s Will Underwood and Owen Waivada sealed the Lions’ fate.
