Andrew Low and Tommy Matthews scored eight seconds apart late in the second period to give eighth-seed Morristown-Beard the lead for good in a 4-1 win over ninth-seed St. Joseph (Mont.) in the NJSIAA Non-Public Tournament Round of 16 at Mennen Arena.
Hollis Humphries also scored for the Crimson, while Cam Fernandez added a penalty shot goal later on. Humphries, Matthews, and Fernandez each had also had assists in the win. Luke McManus turned away 23 of 24 shots to secure the victory.
The win advanced Morristown-Beard to the quarterfinals, where it will take on the winner of top seed Christian Brothers and 16th seed St. Peter’s Prep.
