Daniel Scheine of the Montville boys ice hockey team and Gracie Meyers of the Morristown-Beard girls team were selected by the New Jersey Devils as its Players of the Month for December.
Scheine, a senior, was voted as the representative of the MCSSIHL, has tallied 17 goals and 14 assists this season in leading the Mustangs to an 8-3-2 record, as well as a tie for first place in the Halvorsen Division.
Meyers, a freshman goalie, was honored as the Girls Player of the Month. In five starts this season, she has been lights out, as she has recorded two shutouts to go along with a .947 save percentage and a 3-1-1 record.
The New Jersey Devils honor eight ice hockey players from around the state each month as part of its Players of the Month program, which is now in its 28th season. These selections are made based off of nominations by media members who cover high school hockey. All winners and their guests receive tickets to a Devils’ game, and also receive a certificate presented by a Devils’ player.
