Jan. 11 recap: Park and Mt. Lakes tie in thriller; Vernon continues strong run

Park Regional 4, Mountain Lakes-Boonton 4

A game between two of the top teams in the Haas Division standings came right down to the wire.

After Park Regional’s Tyler Cross gave his team the lead with 1:27 left, Mountain Lakes-Boonton’s Caz Kotsen scored with 38 seconds left to tie it up, and the teams finished in a 4-4 tie at Mennen Arena.

Cross finished with two goals and an assist for Park, which is now 9-1-3 with a 5-1-2 divisional record. Ed Karpinski had a goal and two assists, while Michael DeRosa also scored. A.J. Schauder made 34 saves for Park Regional.

Mountain Lakes, on the other hand, remained unbeaten, as it now holds a 9-0-2 record with an 8-0-2 divisional record. Aiden Reidy had a goal and two assists, while Griffin O’Shaughnessy and Cameron Egan each had a goal and an assist. Ben Polizzi made 20 saves.

Vernon 5, Kinnelon 1

Vernon is continuing its upward trend after a rough start to the season, as it picked up a 5-1 win over Kinnelon at Skylands Ice World.

Vernon- which started the season 1-6- has now won five of its last six after back-to-back wins over West Morris and Kinnelon this weekend to improve to 6-7.

Evan Steinbach and T.J. Quimby each scored twice for Vernon. T.J. Santaita added a goal and two assists, while Ayden Steinbach, Devan England, and Lucas Brennan each picked up two assists. Ozzie Deluca made 22 saves in the win.

Christian Less scored the lone goal for Kinnelon (1-9-3). Brett Lewis made 30 saves in the loss.

Gill St. Bernard’s 6, High Point-Wallkill Valley 2

Connor Udoff scored twice and Brenen Lavoie added a goal and two assists to lift Gill St. Bernard’s to a 6-2 win over High Point-Wallkill Valley at Skylands Ice World.

Christian Mote, Matthew Bloomenthal, and Adam La Tournous each scored for the Knights (5-3-2). Edward McCarthy dished out three assists, while Matt Cooper made 11 saves.

Cooper Williams scored twice for High Point-Wallkill Valley (2-7).

Mount Olive-Hopatcong-Hackettstown 8, Newton-Lenape Valley 1

Evan Parr scored three times and had three assists to propel Mount Olive-Hopatcong-Hackettstown to an 8-1 win over Newton-Lenape Valley at Skylands Ice World.

Thomas Cioce had four assists for Mount Olive (9-4-1). Nicholas Cioce added two goals and an assist, while Ian Deiling, Frank Diloreto, and Christian Hertzig each scored.

Ryan Lynch scored the lone goal for Newton-Lenape Valley (4-7-1).
