Morris Knolls-Hills 4, Ridgewood 3

Jason Kwestel’s goal with 2:36 left helped Morris Knolls-Hills escape with a 4-3 win over Ridgewood in the Ice Vault Holiday Classic.

Morris Knolls-Hills trailed by two-goal deficits twice, as it fell behind 2-0 in the first period, before facing a 3-1 deficit early in the second. But it scored twice in the final two minutes of the third, as Kwestel cut it to 3-2, before Gehrig Eckoff tied it up with 29.6 seconds left on the clock in the second.

Freshman Elliot Marken made 31 saves for Morris Knolls-Hills, which will face St. Joseph of Metuchen on Monday in its Ice Vault Classic finale.

Madison 4, Scotch Plains-Fanwood 0

Madison bounced back from a loss to Verona-Glen Ridge with a commanding 4-0 triumph over Scotch Plains-Fanwood in the Essex Holiday Tournament.

Cormac McNamara scored twice, while Aidan Niceberg and Tyler Shannon each added goals for Madison, which improved its record to 5-3-1. Keaton Tom made 28 saves to earn the shutout, his fourth of the season.

In total, Madison went 2-1 at this tournament with wins over Vernon and Scotch Plains-Fanwood.
