Dec. 12 notebook: Parsippany’s offense erupts

PARSIPPANY ERUPTS FOR MOST GOALS IN FOUR YEARS

You would have to go back all the way to February 8, 2020 for the last time that Parsippany Regional scored more than four goals in a game.

It took just one period for it to eclipse that mark on Tuesday night.

Parsippany Regional scored seven goals in the first period en route to a dominant 9-1 win over Morris Catholic-St. Elizabeth at Mennen Arena.

It received three-point performances from Max Ingersoll (2 g., 1 a.), freshman Shay Anand (1 g., 2 a.), and Joseph Gasparro (1 g., 2 a.). Robert Hemenway and Matthew Hemenway each scored twice, with Nicholas Hornung recording two assists. Michael Rescigno also chipped in with a goal in the win.

Andrew Nicholas stopped 28 of 29 shots in the game, and preserved a big lead in the second period as he stopped all 14 shots in the frame, despite his team being outshot 14-4 in that period.

Michael Najjar scored the only goal of the game for Morris Catholic-St. Elizabeth.

CHATHAM FALLS TO NORTHERN HIGHLANDS, DROPS SECOND STRAIGHT

Chatham fell into a four-goal deficit in the first period and was unable to recover in an 8-3 loss to Northern Highlands at Sport-O-Rama in Monsey, NY.

Despite a first period goal from Thomas White, Chatham trailed, 8-1 through two periods. Matt Nacinovich, who finished with a goal and two assists, scored in the third period, while freshman Danil Shlapak netted his first career goal.

Chatham will look to bounce back against Mendham on Wednesday.
