Morris/Sussex NJSIAA 1st round recap for Feb. 23

Chatham 7, West Morris 0
Nikita Konevych scored two goals to lift fourth-seeded Chatham to a 7-0 win over 13th-seeded West Morris in the first round of the NJSIAA Public B Tournament at Mennen Arena.

Ryan Burke and Doyle Curry each had a goal and two assists for Chatham (14-3-5), which will face fifth-seeded Summit in the quarterfinals on Monday at 8 p.m. at Mennen. Nate May made 13 saves to earn the shutout.

Phil Togno stopped 37 of 44 shots for West Morris, which finished its season with an 8-9-4 record.

Ramapo 4, Mendham 1
Mac Goggin scored in the closing seconds of the second period to give 11th-seeded Mendham the lead over sixth-seeded Ramapo, putting it in position to potentially pull a major upset.

But Ramapo scored four unanswered goals in the third period to pull away for a 4-1 win over Mendham in the NJSIAA Public B Tournament at Mennen Arena.

Braden Guiterman scored twice, Cooper Snee had a goal and an assist, and Maxwell Simpson netted a goal for Ramapo (15-7-3). It will travel to face third-seeded Randolph in the quarterfinals on Monday at 7:15 p.m. at SportsCare Arena. Luke L’Heureux made 19 saves in the win.

Brendon Eigner made 28 saves for Mendham (10-9-2).

Girls: Trinity Hall 6, Chatham 1
Ninth-seeded Chatham saw its season come to an end in a 6-1 loss to eighth-seeded Trinity Hall in the first round of the NJSIAA State Tournament at Jersey Shore Arena in Wall.

Chatham’s season ended at 8-7-3.

Trinity Hall will face top-seeded Morristown-Beard in the quarterfinals on Monday.
