Morris/Sussex NJSIAA Tournament recap for Tuesday, Feb. 21

8-Toms River South-East 3, 9-KJS United 0
Chase Witt recorded his second shutout of the state tournament to lead eighth-seeded Toms River South-East to a 3-0 win over ninth-seeded KJS United in the first round of the Public C tournament at Winding River Rink in Toms River.

Witt stopped all 18 shots he faced, just days after a 19-save shutout in a 2-0 win over Mount Olive-Hopatcong-Hackettstown in the preliminary round.

Brady Verdon scored two goals, while Jake Verdon also scored for TRSE (18-5), which advanced to the quarterfinals where it will face the winner of tomorrow’s game between top-seeded Gov. Livingston and 16th-seeded Paramus-Lyndhurst.

KJS United goalie Rylan Gibbons made 21 saves, as it finished with a 14-6-1 record.

3-Colonia-Woodbridge-JFK 12, 19- Bernards-Somerville-Middlesex 2
Ryan Lukko scored six goals with three assists for a nine-point night in leading third-seeded Colonia-Woodbridge-JFK to a 12-2 win over 19th-seeded Bernards-Somerville-Middlesex in the first round of the Public C tournament at Woodbridge Community Center.

Hubert Polchlopek and Dylan Godsil each tallied two goals and four assists for Colonia (17-0-1), which advanced to the quarterfinals where it will take on the winner of tomorrow’s game between sixth-seeded Brick and 11th-seeded Robbinsville-Allentown. Hunter Galgani made 27 saves in the win.

Tanner Clemson and Jimmy Hathaway each scored for BSM, which finished its season with a 13-5-2 record.

2-Middletown North 10, 15-Montville 0
Montville, the 15th-seed in the Public B tournament, saw its resurgent season come to an end in a 10-0 loss to second-seeded Middletown North in the first round of the tournament at Middletown Ice World.

Montville, which won the Charette Cup last week, finished its season with a 14-4-2 record- just one year after winning two games all season.

Middletown North (13-6-4) moved on to the quarterfinals, where it will take on the winner of tomorrow’s game between seventh-seeded Middletown South and 10th-seeded Mahwah.
