Girls: 1-Morristown-Beard 13, 5-Pingry 2
Top-seeded Morristown-Beard is headed to its second-consecutive state final, after rolling to a 13-2 win over fifth-seeded Pingry in the NJSIAA Tournament semifinals at Twin Oaks Ice Rink.
Morristown-Beard won the inaugural title in 2019-20 before it was not held last winter. It will take on the winner of tomorrow’s semifinal between second-seeded Princeton Day and third-seeded Princeton, in the state championship game. The title game is slated for Monday at 11 a.m. at Prudential Center in Newark.
Morristown-Beard had three different players record five or more points, beginning with Lilli Warnock’s three-goal, three-assist performance. Jessica Sperling had three goals and two assists, while Leah Stecker added two goals and three assists. Carly Greer scored twice with an assist and Julie Jasaitis had a goal and two assists.
Emma Hughes and Logan Sutera each had a goal and an assist in the win.
Morristown-Beard improved to 16-3-1 with the victory. Gracie Meyers came up with nine saves.
