SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 5
Vernon vs. Park Regional at Skylands Ice World, 6 p.m.
— A win or tie for Park Regional automatically clinches its spot in the Haas Cup. It also is one game below .500, so it needs a win to keep its state tournament hopes alive. Vernon, on the other hand, is in a must-win situation. It currently trails fourth-place Gill St. Bernard’s by one point for the fourth and final Haas Cup spot, and a loss in this game, combined with a Gill St. Bernard’s win over Montville, could eliminate the Vikings by the end of Saturday. It also is two games below .500 and needs a win to continue its state tournament hopes.
Gill St. Bernard’s vs. Montville at Mennen Arena, 8 p.m.
— Gill St. Bernard’s leads Vernon by one point for the fourth and final Haas Cup playoff spot. A win and a Vernon loss would clinch its spot in the tournament. It is one game above .500, so a win would go a long way towards putting the team in position to qualify for the state tournament. Montville has been eliminated from Halvorsen Cup and state tournament contention.
Newton-Lenape Valley vs. Morris Catholic-St. Elizabeth at Skylands Ice World, 4 p.m.
— Newton-Lenape Valley is locked into a Charette Cup semifinal match-up with High Point-Wallkill Valley-Kittatinny, but a win here would officially clinch the second seed in that match-up. It is also one game below .500, so a win would help as the team looks to qualify for the state tournament. Morris Catholic, on the other hand, is locked into the fourth seed in the Charette Cup, but is five games below .500. In order to be eligible to apply for an at-large bid, it needs to win to get within four games of .500.
