Jan. 21 roundup: Fleksher’s late goal helps KJS United secure tie with Morristown

Dillon Fleksher scored the game-tying goal for KJS United with 1:12 remaining to help it earn a 1-1 tie with Morristown at Skylands Ice World.

Brody Toye gave Morristown the lead with 6:40 to go after the teams had played scoreless for 38:20 of the game.

Morristown is now 9-3-3 overall with a 4-0-1 Halvorsen record, and remains in first place. KJS United is now 2-6-3 with a 1-1-2 Halvorsen mark, which puts it in fourth place.

Verona-Glen Ridge 4, Madison 1
A hat trick from Verona-Glen Ridge’s Will Benson proved to be the difference as Madison fell, 4-1 at Mennen Arena.

The loss dropped Madison to 4-11-1 overall, bringing it to seven games below .500. It needs to be within four games of .500 to be eligible for an at-large bid for the state tournament.

Kyle Piechnik scored the lone goal for Madison in the first period. Bryan Worthington stopped 29 of 32 shots in the loss.

Girls: Morristown-Beard 5, Princeton Day 1
Jessica Sperling and Kailin Kane each had two goals and an assist to lead Morristown-Beard to a 5-1 win over Princeton Day at Lisa McGraw Rink in Princeton.

Logan Sutera added a goal and two assists for Morristown-Beard, which remained unbeaten and improved its record to 7-0. Julie Jasaitis and Carly Greer each dished out two assists, while Gracie Meyers turned aside 19 of 20 shots in the win.

Girls: Madison 7, Chatham-Millburn 4
Mia McSherry scored two goals to lead Madison to its first win of the season, a 7-4 triumph over Chatham-Millburn at Mennen Arena

Madison (1-5) built a 5-1 lead in the second period, before Chatham-Millburn struck for three goals to cut the deficit to 5-4. Madison ultimately pulled away with two third period goals.

Maddie Jepsen scored twice for Chatham-Millburn, which dropped to 0-6.

Juliana DiPaolo made 24 saves for Madison.
