Jan. 15 roundup: Madison stuns Morristown-Beard for 1st Mennen win

Madison 5, Morristown-Beard 3
Cormac McNamara and Tyler Shannon each had a goal and an assist for Madison, as it took down Morristown-Beard 5-3 for the team’s first Mennen Division win of the year at Mennen Arena.

Madison led, 1-0 going into the third period off of Jonathan Erickson’s first period goal. Kevin McIntyre tied it up for Morristown-Beard 5:14 into the third, before Shannon gave Madison the lead back 35 seconds later. Hollis Humphries tied it up again for Morristown-Beard with just under six minutes to go, but Luke Wirth gave Madison the lead for good just a short time later. McNamara scored what proved to be the game-winner with 2:35 left, with Kyle Piechnik adding an insurance marker 1:02 later.

Hollis Humphries scored his second of the game with 15 seconds left, but Madison hung on for the win.

Bryan Worthington made 25 saves for Madison, which is now 1-5 in the Mennen Division with a 4-9-1 overall record. Morristown-Beard, on the other hand, dropped to 4-3 in the division with a 7-7 overall mark. The loss eliminates Morristown-Beard from winning the Mennen regular season title, as it now cannot catch first place Morris Knolls-Hills (which is three points ahead) with each team having just one division game remaining.

Bernards-Somerville-Middlesex 9, Parsippany Regional 1
Tanner Clemson recorded a hat trick and an assist and Jimmy Hathaway had two goals and two assists in Bernards-Somerville-Middlesex’s 9-1 win over Parsippany Regional at Mennen Arena.

Aidan Gallagher also had a hat trick for Bernards-Somerville-Middlesex, which is now 7-0-2 with a 4-0-1 Charette record. Dylan Leonard added a goal, with Stephen Parisi dishing out three assists in the win.

Nicholas Hornung scored for Parsippany Regional, which dropped to 0-10.

Park Regional 9, High Point-Wallkill Valley-Kittatinny 4
Ed Karpinski had a hat trick and three assists to lead Park Regional to a 9-4 win over High Point-Wallkill Valley-Kittatinny at Skylands Ice World.

Mike Monahan also had a hat trick and two assists for Park Regional, which is now 7-4-2. Jason Cirillo had a goal and two assists, while Stanley Gelman had a goal and an assist and William Della Calce added a goal. A.J. Schauder stopped 31 of 35 shots in the win.

Michael Sadowski scored twice for High Point-Wallkill Valley-Kittatinny (3-6-1). William Schreiber and Custode Shane each scored with Luca Carnemolla dishing out two assists in the loss.

Newton-Lenape Valley 4, Kearny 2
Ryan Lynch scored two goals in Newton-Lenape Valley’s 4-2 win over Kearny at Skylands Ice World.

Lukas Krauklis and Martin Murphy each scored for Newton-Lenape Valley, which is now 4-6-3 with the win. Ryan Salerno made 15 saves in the win.
