Mendham 5, Randolph 2
Tristan Aikenhead scored twice to lift Mendham to its first win over Randolph in nearly 13 years, a 5-2 win over the Rams at Mennen Arena.
According to NJHockey.org, Mendham’s last win against Randolph came on January 30, 2009, a 1-0 triumph.
Michael Gionco had a goal and two assists and Blake Stevens dished out three assists for the Minutemen, which also notched their first win of the season. Mac Goggin and Brandon Weinerman each added goals, while Griffin Jozefek and E.J. Gleie each contributed two assists apiece.
Gavin Thrun made 19 saves in the win. Mendham improved its record to 1-2, and will face Madison on Thursday. Randolph dropped to 2-2 and will take on Morristown-Beard on Wednesday.
Madison 5, Mountain Lakes-Boonton 3
Cormac McNamara and Kyle Piechnik each scored two goals to lead Madison to its first win of the season, a 5-3 win over Mountain Lakes-Boonton at Mennen Arena.
Sam Gero dished out three assists for Madison (1-4). Tyler Shannon had two assists and Andrew Haralampoudis added a goal and an assist in the win.
Cole Groeneveld, Jimmy Holda, and Aiden Reidy each had a goal for Mountain Lakes-Boonton (2-2), which trailed 5-0 before scoring two second period goals and one in the third to close the gap.
Bryan Worthington made 18 saves for Madison and Cullen Fagan made 36 saves for Mountain Lakes-Boonton. Madison will face Mendham on Thursday, while Mountain Lakes-Boonton will take on Morristown on Wednesday.
Vernon 6, Montville 3
Dylan Shea tallied two goals and two assists as Vernon picked up a 6-3 win over Montville at Skylands Ice World.
Evan Steinbach had two goals and an assist for Vernon (4-2), which notched its first Haas Division win of the year. Devin England contributed a goal and two assists, while Christopher Gay added a goal and an assist in the win.
Joseph Laino led Montville (0-5) with a goal and an assist. Chase Unice and Trey Baresich each had a goal in the loss.
Vernon will take on Park Regional on Thursday, while Montville will also take on Park Regional in its next game, next Saturday.
Park Regional 6, Newton-Lenape Valley 1
Stanley Gelman and Ed Karpinski each tallied two goals and two assists in Park Regional’s 6-1 win over Newton-Lenape Valley at Skylands Ice World.
Jason Cirillo had three assists, while Mike Monahan added a goal and two assists. Matthew McDermott also had a goal and an assist for Park Regional (3-0). A.J. Schauder stopped 19 of 20 shots in the win.
Ryan Lynch scored the lone goal for Newton-Lenape Valley (0-4).
Park Regional is set to take on Gill St. Bernard’s on Monday. Newton-Lenape Valley will look for its first win when it takes on Parsippany next Saturday.
