Dec. 9 roundup: Delbarton stays unbeaten, Cioce brothers lead Mt. Olive

Delbarton 6, Pingry 1
Kayetan Berezniak had two goals and an assist and Nick Faccone had four helpers to lift Delbarton past Pingry at SportsCare Arena in Randolph.

Jack Gerne also netted two goals for Delbarton, which improved its record to 4-0-1. Hayden Bright added a goal, and Trip Pendy chipped in with a goal and two assists. Austin Kramer made nine saves in the win.

Delbarton will face Seton Hall Prep on Monday as it looks to remain unbeaten.

Mount Olive-Hopatcong-Hackettstown 10, Vernon 2
Nicholas Cioce tallied five goals and an assist to send Mount Olive-Hopatcong-Hackettstown to a 10-2 win over Vernon at Mennen Arena.

It was the Haas Division opener for both teams.

Thomas Cioce had a goal and four assists for MO/HO/HA, which built a 6-0 lead by the end of the first period. Christian Hertzig scored twice, while Sean Pederson and Daniel McGarry each had a goal and an assist.

Devin England and Evan Steinbach each scored for Vernon, which only had nine skaters available for this game.

Mount Olive-Hopatcong-Hackettstown will face Bernards-Somerville-Middlesex on Monday, and is 2-0 with a 1-0 mark in the Haas Division. Vernon fell to 3-2 with an 0-1 Haas record, and will next face Montville on Saturday.

West Morris 4, Montville 1
Benjamin Barnhill scored twice and Max Michalski had a goal and two assists to lead West Morris to a 4-1 win over Montville at Mennen Arena.

Barnhill scored late in the first to put West Morris ahead, before Logan Engle tied it up for Montville early in the second. Michalski’s power play goal put West Morris in the lead for good, before Barnhill added a goal before the end of the second to make it a two-goal game. Tommy Togno added an empty-netter in the final minutes to seal it.

Phil Togno stopped 26 of 27 shots for West Morris, while Alexis Riley made 24 saves for Montville.

West Morris picked up its first Haas win of the year after dropping its opener to Park Regional 12 days ago, improving its record to 1-1. It will take on Parsippany Regional in a crossover game on Saturday.

Montville, on the other hand, fell to 0-4 and is now 0-2 in the Haas. It will face Vernon on Saturday.

Chatham 7, Mountain Lakes-Boonton 2
Matt Nacinavich had two goals and an assist to help Chatham roll past Mountain Lakes-Boonton, 7-2 at Mennen Arena.

Ronan Curry had a goal and two assists, while Doyle Curry added a goal and an assist for Chatham. Chatham put 42 shots on Mountain Lakes-Boonton goalie Cullen Fagan, who made 35 stops.

Chatham improved to 3-2 overall and will be in action again when it takes on Morris Knolls-Hills on Tuesday in the team’s first Mennen Division game of the year. Mountain Lakes-Boonton fell to 2-1 with a 1-0 Halvorsen record, and will take on another Mennen team in Madison on Saturday.

Girls: Morristown-Beard 8, Oak Knoll 0
Lilli Warnock tallied three goals and two assists and Jessica Sperling also had a hat trick as Morristown-Beard raced past Oak Knoll, 8-0 at Twin Oaks Ice Rink.

Leah Stecker had a goal and two assists and Julie Jasaitis chipped in with a goal. Logan Sutera dished out two assists in the win. Gracie Meyers stopped all 14 shots she faced to earn the shutout.

Morristown-Beard improved to 2-0, and will face Portledge (N.Y.) on Monday on the road.
