Delbarton picked up its third win in as many tries against a Top 10-ranked team by NJ.com, as it earned a 7-0 win over No. 10 St. Joseph at SportsCare Arena in Randolph.
Delbarton is now 3-0 on the early season and has outscored its opponents 14-2 in that stretch.
Duncan Stewart netted two goals and Max Pendy added a goal and an assist for the Green Wave. Trip Pendy had a goal and an assist, while James Royse, Timmy Galvin, and Nick Faccone all chipped in with goals. Jack Genovese dished out two assists in the win.
Jason Cai made nine saves and Austin Kramer made two saves to combine for the shutout.
Delbarton will host current No. 3 Christian Brothers next Tuesday in its next game.
Morristown-Beard 5, St. Joseph (Met.) 3
Hollis Humphries buried two goals to help Morristown-Beard open its season with a 5-3 win over St. Joseph of Metuchen at Twin Oaks Ice Rink.
Nick Squashic, Noah Jones, and Peter Cross all scored along with Humphries in the first period to build a 4-0 lead in the opening 9:46 of the game. St. Joseph’s Jack Pallotta and Kaden Howe each added goals before the end of the period, before Jason Pliszak made it a one-goal game late in the third. Humphries, however, netted his second on an empty-net goal with 24 seconds left to seal the win.
Casey Connor stopped 30 of 33 shots to earn his first varsity win for Morristown-Beard, which will next face Morris Knolls-Hills in its Mennen Division opener on Friday at 7:45 p.m. at Mennen Arena.
