POPE JOHN 2, BERGEN CATHOLIC 2
Scott Vanderhoff’s game-tying goal with 1:02 remaining helped Pope John earn a 2-2 tie with Bergen Catholic, ranked No. 2 in the state by NJ.com, at Skylands Ice World.
After Matthew Desiderio gave Bergen Catholic (7-1-1) the lead early in the first, Emporio Iencio tied the game for Pope John in the final minute of the second. Bergen Catholic re-took the lead early in the third period on a goal from Joe Garcia, but Vanderhoff erased that with his late goal.
Tyler Paluzzi made 38 saves for Pope John (2-5-2), which was out-shot 40-24 in the game. It currently sits at eighth in the Gordon Conference with a 1-5-2 conference record, after a tie with state-ranked St. Augustine earlier this week as well.
MORRISTOWN-BEARD 7, PINGRY 2
Seth Kaplan recorded three goals and two assists- including the 100th point of his career- to lift Morristown-Beard to a 7-2 win over Pingry at Twin Oaks Ice Rink.
Kaplan’s performance brought him to 102 career points in 79 career games played, with 52 goals and 50 assists to his name.
Hollis Humphries had a natural hat trick in the first period- two of which were shorthanded- for Morristown-Beard (4-1-1). Cam Fernandez had a goal and three assists, while Andrew Low dished out five assists.
Chili Connell made 17 saves for Morristown-Beard, which will take on Morris Knolls-Hills tonight at 8:15 p.m.
MADISON 5, ROXBURY 2
Aidan Niceberg scored twice with two assists as Madison erased a 2-1 deficit with four-consecutive goals in a 5-2 win over Roxbury at Mennen Arena.
Nick Thomas and Joe Eible scored for Roxbury (6-4), which led 2-1 until late in the second period. Niceberg tied the score 11:37 into the middle period, before Matt Gero gave Madison the lead for good with 9:30 to go in the third. Niceberg and Jacob Erickson each added goals in the third for Madison (9-1), which improved to 7-0 in the Halvorsen Division and has locked up the top seed for the Halvorsen Cup.
Erickson finished with a goal and three assists,, while Keaton Tom stopped 22 shots for Madison.
PARK REGIONAL 4, WEST MORRIS 0
Ed Karpinski had a goal and two assists to lift Park Regional to its first divisional win of the season- a 4-0 win over West Morris at Mennen Arena.
Jason Cirillo, Mike Monahan and Anthony Spagnoletti each scored for Park Regional (2-6-2), which improved to 1-5-2 in the Haas Division. A.J. Schauder stopped all 21 shots to secure the shutout.
KJS UNITED 5, MONTVILLE 2
Matthew Francescutto scored twice with an assist to send KJS United to a 5-2 win over Montville at Skylands Ice World.
Adam Stefancik had a goal and two assists for KJS United (4-7-1), which picked up its second win over Montville in the last week. Matthew Espinosa and Kyle Sutton each had a goal and an assist, and Brett Lewis made 33 saves.
Austin Bailey and Michael Maly scored for Montville (1-4-1).
