Feb. 13 recap: Montville and Mendham tie, Steinbach brothers lead Vernon

MENDHAM 4, MONTVILLE 4

Connor Perez scored the game-tying goal with 4:59 to go to help Montville preserve a 4-4 tie with Mendham at Mennen Arena.

Montville (1-2-1) built a two-goal lead in the opening 4:01 on goals from Perez and Trey Baresich. Mendham (1-2-2) struck back in the later part of the period though, as Tristan Aikenhead and Griffin Jozefek scored to tie the game. Montville retook the lead early in the second on Christopher Armelino’s goal, but Aikenhead and Ian Tamboowalla each struck early in the third to give Mendham its first lead of the game.

Montville goalie Adrian Prelich made 40 saves, as Mendham out-shot Montville 44-22.

MOUNTAIN LAKES-BOONTON 10, WEST MORRIS 1

Tyler Shaloub had a hat trick in the first period alone to lift Mountain Lakes-Boonton to an 8-1 win over West Morris at Mennen Arena.

Shaloub scored three of his team’s five first period goals. Cameron Egan and Aiden Reidy each added two goals and two assists in the contest for Mountain Lakes-Boonton (8-1), which recorded its eighth-consecutive victory. Griffen O’Shaughnessy had three assists, Andy Barrasso had a goal and two assists, while John Lane chipped in with a goal and an assist.

Jimmy Thompson scored the lone goal for West Morris (0-7-1) on the power play in the second period.

VERNON 11, MORRIS CATHOLIC 3

Ayden Steinbach scored five goals with an assist and Evan Steinbach tallied an eight-point night with four goals and four assists in Vernon’s 11-3 win over Morris Catholic at Skylands Ice World.

Dylan Shea scored twice with two assists for Vernon (5-1-2), which scored eight times in the second period to break a 1-1 tie. Joey Martin dished out three assists, while Ozzie Deluca made 28 saves.

Aidan Dominick, Hugh McGuigan, and Aldino Guadagnino each scored for Morris Catholic (3-2).

MADISON 5, KJS UNITED 0

Behind a hat trick from Johnny Hamwee, Madison picked up its fifth-consecutive win, a 5-0 triumph over KJS United at Skylands Ice World.

Matt Gero added a goal and three assists and Tyler Shannon came up with a goal and an assist for the Dodgers (6-1). Jacob Erickson had two assists, and Keaton Tom recorded an 18-save shutout, which was his second-straight shutout.

Brett Lewis made 45 saves for KJS United (3-6-1).
