Feb. 12-13 recap: Knolls-Hills falls; Madison, Morristown-Beard triumph

RUMSON-FAIR HAVEN 3, MORRIS KNOLLS-HILLS 1

Brett Pritchard scored two goals in the third period as Rumson-Fair Haven earned a 3-1 win over Morris Knolls-Hills at Mennen Arena.

Morris Knolls-Hills led, 1-0 after the first period on Jeffrey Quinn’s goal. But Connor Spagnuola tied it up with 5:17 to go in the second, before Pritchard put Rumson-Fair Haven ahead for good 3:22 into the third period. He iced the game with a highlight-reel goal with 48 seconds left, as Rumson-Fair Haven remained on the attack and did not even allow Morris Knolls-Hills the opportunity to pull its goalie for the extra attacker.

Rumson-Fair Haven out-shot Morris Knolls-Hills, 33-23. Aidan Marvin made 30 saves for Knolls-Hills, while Ronan Hickey came up with 22 saves for Rumson-Fair Haven.

MADISON 6, ROXBURY 0

Jacoby Erickson had a hat trick to propel Madison to a 6-0 win over Roxbury at Mennen Arena.

Matt Gero had a goal and three assists for Madison (5-1), which built a four-point lead in the Halvorsen Division race. Tyler Shannon and Aidan Niceberg each had a goal and an assist.

Keaton Tom made 21 saves to secure the shutout for Madison.

MORRISTOWN-BEARD 6, HUN 1

Hollis Humphries tallied two goals and two assists to lift Morristown-Beard to a 6-1 win over Hun at Twin Oaks Ice Rink.

It was Morristown-Beard’s first game action since a 3-3 tie with Seton Hall Prep on Jan. 28. Seth Kaplan added two goals and an assist for Morristown-Beard. Dylan Strauss added a goal and an assist, while Roman Berger also scored. Cam Fernandez and Andrew Low each dished out two assists in the win.

Luke McManus made 24 saves for Morristown-Beard (2-1-1).

KJS UNITED 5, MONTVILLE 1

Matthew Francescutto and Joey Kopec each scored twice to lift KJS United to a 5-1 win over Montville at Mennen Arena.

Tyler Parisi and Anthony Pandiscia each had two assists and Kyle Sutton added a goal and two assists for KJS United (3-5-1). Brett Lewis made 25 saves in the win.

Owen O’Hara scored the lone goal for Montville (1-2).

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 11

Delbarton 5, St. Peter’s Prep 1

Five different players scored to lead Delbarton to a 5-1 win over St. Peter’s Prep at Aspen Ice in Randolph.

Chase Pirtle, Cal Hughes, Luke Benitez, Jack Benitez, and Trip Pendy each scored for Delbarton (3-1).

MORRIS CATHOLIC 6, BERNARDS-SOMERVILLE-MIDDLESEX 4

Nick Leyhan scored twice and had two assists to lift Morris Catholic to a 6-4 win over Bernards-Somerville-Middlesex at Mennen Arena.

Hugh McGuigan and Hayden McGuigan each had a goal and an assist for Morris Catholic (3-1). Aidan Dominick also had a goal and an assist, while Evan Lord added a goal for the Crusaders.

Ryan Leonard scored twice and had an assist and Taylor Favreau added two goals for Bernards-Somerville-Middlesex.

GILL ST. BERNARD’S 5, WEST MORRIS 0

Brenen Lavoie scored twice and added an assist to lift Gill St. Bernard’s to a 5-0 win over West Morris at Mennen Arena.

Christian Mote added a goal and two assists for Gill St. Bernard’s (3-3-2). Porter Clark also scored for the Knights. Matt Cooper stopped all 14 shots to earn the shutout.

Girls: MORRISTOWN-BEARD 6, OAK KNOLL 1

Leah Stecker had two goals and an assist to propel Morristown-Beard to a 6-1 win over Oak Knoll.

Jesscia Sperling scored twice for Morristown-Beard (4-0). Lilli Warnock tallied a goal and two assists and Katie Ewig also scored. Gracie Meyers made 26 saves in the win.
