Jan. 28 recap: Kaplan helps Morristown-Beard tie Seton Hall Prep

MORRISTOWN-BEARD 3, SETON HALL PREP 3

Seth Kaplan’s goal with 1:52 left in the third period helped Morristown-Beard earn a 3-3 tie with Seton Hall Prep at Mennen Arena.

It appeared that Morristown-Beard may be on its way to its second loss in as many days, after Hudson Gorski’s goal put Seton Hall Prep ahead with 4:29 to go. But Kaplan knotted up the score and it held up, evening Morristown-Beard’s record up at 1-1-1.

Noah Jones and Manu Verpoucke each added goals for Morristown-Beard. Dylan Strauss and Roman Berger each had two assists, while Luke McManus made 21 saves.

Ryan Rodrigues and Dale Campbell each scored for Seton Hall Prep. Patrick Ackerman made 20 saves.

Girls: PRINCETON DAY 7, CHATHAM 3

Molly Coyne scored twice and had an assist for Chatham in a 7-3 loss to Princeton Day in Princeton.

After Princeton Day took a 2-0 lead in the second period, Chatham (0-2) Rscored three in a row to take a 3-2 lead, with Coyne’s two goals as well as one from Campbell Ragins put the Cougars in the lead early in the third. But Princeton Day rattled off five unanswered goals to secure the victory.
