Jan. 27 recap: Morristown-Beard girls open with win, boys fall to Princeton Day

PRINCETON DAY 4, MORRISTOWN-BEARD 0

Morristown-Beard suffered a 4-0 loss to Princeton Day in its second game of the year.

In a game which saw the shot tally even at 24 apiece, Princeton Day erupted for three goals in the second period before getting an insurance marker in the third. Morristown-Beard’s (1-1) Luke McManus made 20 saves in the loss.

Girls: MORRISTOWN-BEARD 5, CHATHAM 1

In the first game of the season for both programs, Morristown-Beard scored four goals in the third period to pull away from Chatham for a 5-1 win at Twin Oaks Ice Rink.

Chatham’s Molly Coyne gave the Cougars the lead in the first period with her 100th career point, before Faith Facchini tied it up for Morristown-Beard late in the second period. Then, in the third, Lili Warnock, Facchini, Katie Ewig, and Logan Sutera each struck for the Crimson.

Facchini finished with two goals and an assist, Warnock had a goal and an assist, while Lucy McCarthy and Jessica Sperling each dished out two assists for Morristown-Beard. Gracie Meyers made seven saves in the win.
