MOUNTAIN LAKES-BOONTON
Head coach: Clint McDonough, fourth year. 31-25-11 career record.
Division: Haas
Last year: Mountain Lakes-Boonton had one of its best seasons ever, as it finished 15-3-4 and captured the program’s first-ever Haas Cup title. It reached the state tournament, where it lost to Mendham in the preliminary round of the Public C tournament.
Key losses: Ben Polizzi, G.
This year’s squad: Outside of the goaltender position, Mountain Lakes-Boonton returns virtually everyone from last year’s Haas Cup championship-winning team.
It starts up front, where it will return the team’s two top scorers in senior Cameron Egan (14 g., 24 a.) and junior Aiden Reidy (13 g., 20 a.). Sophomore Andy Barrasso (5 g., 4 a.), sophomore Daniel Fazandeiro (4 g., 3 a.), junior Jimmy Holda (4 g., 7 a.), junior Caz Kotsen (9 g., 11 a.), junior John Lane (13 g., 9 a.), senior Finn Daggy (4 g., 6 a.), and senior Emre Andican will make up a very talented group up front.
On defense, senior Griffin O’Shaughnessy (16 g., 7 a.) will lead the way. Sophomore Kieran Christy (4 a.), sophomore Logan Przetrzelski (2 g., 3 a.), and senior Tyler Shaloub (2 g., 7 a.) all figure to contribute as well.
Freshmen Jack Fitch, Benji Forman, Jonathan Garibaldi, and A.J. Wenzel all figure to have a big role this season along with junior Owen Pirolo.
Goalie is where the team’s biggest question mark is after the graduation of standout Ben Polizzi, who played every game for this team last year. It will look to junior Cullen Fagan to take the reigns this season.
Outlook: All of the pieces are in place for Mountain Lakes-Boonton to repeat as Haas Cup champions. It has a ton of offensive firepower along with an experienced and talented defensive unit- not to mention a winning culture which really took hold last season. However, the Haas Division figures to be very difficult this season with talented and experienced squads such as Gill St. Bernard’s, Mount Olive-Hopatcong-Hackettstown, and Park Regional.
