Head coach: Kevin Hannon, fifth season
Last year: Chatham finished with a 7-9 0verall record, with close losses to Princeton Day, Morristown-Beard, and Kent Place. It qualified for the first-ever girls state tournament, where it topped Madison, 5-1 in the first round before being eliminated by Trinity Hall in the quarterfinals.
Key losses: Ginger Boles, Jennifer Olnowich, Veronica Quidore, McKenna O’Connor, Caroline Hannon.
This year’s squad: While it lost some strong players from last year’s team, Chatham has solid senior leadership to lean on. It will be led by a senior trio up front of Cate Gallagher, Molly Coyne (8 g., 4 a.), and Lauren Arias (5 g., 4 a.). Senior Hannah Bedell will anchor the team’s blue line, with help from sophomore Kate Romano.
In goal, Grace Zinn is back for her senior season after being the team’s starter for most of last season.
Outlook: Chatham figures to be poised for a strong season, with solid experience up front as well as in goal. It will face a challenging schedule as usual with the likes of Princeton Day, Morristown-Beard, Immaculate Heart, Trinity Hall and Summit on the docket, and it will be even more challenging with a lot of games being played in such a short amount of time.
