Madison 6, Vernon 4
Cormac McNamara scored twice and had an assist to lead Madison to a 6-4 win over Vernon in the Essex Holiday Tournament at Codey Arena in West Orange.
Aidan Niceberg and Jacoby Erickson scored back-to-back goals late in the third period to break a 4-4 deadlock. Niceberg’s goal came with 4:50 to go in the third, just 2:02 after Vernon’s Dylan Shea tied it up. Erickson added an insurance goal with 2:25 left.
Tyler Shannon and Liam O’Hearen each scored for Madison (3-3). T.J. Quimby, T.J. Santaita, and Ayden Steinbach each found the back of the net for Vernon.
Keaton Tom made 28 saves for Madison, while Vernon’s Ozzie Deluca made 37 saves.
Chatham 4, Verona-Glen Ridge 0
Chatham goalie Jennifer Olnowich recorded her second straight shutout as Chatham topped Verona-Glen Ridge, 4-0 in the Essex Holiday Tournament at Codey Arena.
Olnowich made 34 saves, just two days after recording a 20-save shutout against Vernon. Declan Curry had a hat trick, while Danny Mahoney also scored for Chatham, which is now 3-1-2.
Roxbury 4, River Dell-Westwood 0
Nick Hefferle’s hat trick helped Roxbury earn a 4-0 win over River Dell-Westwood in the Ice Vault Holiday Classic.
Nick Thomas added a goal and two assists for Roxbury, which improved to 5-2 and won its third game in a row. Ryan Callahan made nine saves to secure the shutout.
Mendham 5, Oratory 2
Ryan Bruin scored twice to lead Mendham to a 5-2 win over Oratory in the Essex Holiday Tournament.
Sean Caddo, Mac Goggin, and Michael Gionco each found the back of the net for Mendham, which improved to 2-2-2. Connor McDonough made 18 saves in the win.
Pascack Valley 4, West Morris 3
West Morris dropped a 4-3 decision to Pascack Valley in the Essex Holiday Tournament.
Cameron Veno scored twice for West Morris, which dropped to 3-4-1 with the loss. Tyler Muszelik also scored for West Morris.
