Morristown-Beard 9, Madison 5
Morristown-Beard built a six-goal lead and was able to hang on in the third period despite a furious Madison rally to take a 9-5 win over Madison for a key Mennen Division win at Mennen Arena.
Hollis Humphries and Tommy Matthews each tallied two goals and three assists for Morristown-Beard (3-2). Andrew Low scored twice and Evan Sanford added a goal and two assists. Seth Kaplan and D.J. Layden each had two assists, while Cam Fernandez had a goal and four assists in the win.
Cormac McNamara scored twice and had an assist for Madison (3-1-1). Tyler Shannon and Jacoby Erickson each had a goal and an assist, and Aidan Niceberg dished out three assists.
Montville 6, Vernon 2
Daniel Scheine had a hat trick to lift Montville to a 6-2 win over Vernon at Skylands Ice World.
After falling behind on T.J. Santaita’s shorthanded goal in the first period, Connor Perez scored the game-tying power play goal just 22 seconds later for Montville (3-0-1). Scheine then scored twice in the second as Montville took a 4-2 lead going into the third, before adding a shorthanded tally with 2:28 left in the game. Adrian Prelich made 26 saves for Montville.
Lucas Brennan also scored for Vernon (0-4).
Gill St. Bernard’s 3, Park Regional 0
Brenen Lavoie scored twice and Matt Cooper had a 23-save shutout to lift Gill St. Bernard’s to a big 3-0 win over Park Regional at Mennen Arena.
Eddie McCarthy also scored for Gill St. Bernard’s (2-2-1), which scored twice in the second period. Liam Jones added two assists in the win.
West Morris 4, Parsippany Regional 3
Nathan Meola scored twice and had an assist to lift West Morris to a 4-3 win over Parsippany Regional at Mennen Arena.
The teams were knotted up at two after a back-and-forth first period, but Matt Schneider gave West Morris (3-2) the lead late in the second, before Meola added an important insurance tally in the third. Cameron Veno also had a goal and an assist. West Morris out-shot Parsippany, 49-6.
David Zilinksis scored twice and Jake Weiss added a goal for Parsippany (0-4). Justin Wellman made 45 saves in the loss.
High Point-Wallkill Valley 4, Newton-Lenape Valley 2
Brandon Mudrick had a hat trick as High Point-Wallkill Valley raced out to a three-goal lead and never looked back in a 4-2 win over Newton-Lenape Valley at Skylands Ice World.
Devin Haines also scored for High Point-WV (2-2). David Zappe got Newton-LV (3-2) on the board in the second period, before Mike Smith cut the deficit to 3-2 with just over five minutes left in the game. But Mudrick put home a goal with 3:37 left to secure the win.
Tai Ruvo made 29 saves for High Point-WV, which was out-shot 31-15.
