Nov. 30 recap: Randolph wins big, Montville and Sparta-Jefferson tie

Randolph 9, Vernon 0

Randolph is expected to be the favorite for both the Public B and Mennen Cup titles, and it got off to a fast start as it rolled past Vernon at Skylands Ice World.

J.T. Zangara and Justin Harper each scored twice and had an assist for the Rams. In total, seven different players found the scoresheet for Randolph, as it out-shot Vernon, 62-7.

Gavin Einfeldt turned aside all seven shots he faced to earn the shutout.

Montville 2, Sparta-Jefferson 2

Joe Nuzzi and Connor Perez each scored for Montville as it secured a season-opening 2-2 tie with Halvorsen counterpart Sparta-Jefferson United.

Kyle Sutton and Matt Francescutto each scored for Sparta-Jefferson. Logan Hanek made 39 saves for Sparta-Jefferson, which was out-shot 41-19 in the game. Adrian Prelich made 17 saves for Montville.

Oratory 5, Gill St. Bernard’s 3

After a dominant season-opening win, Gill St. Bernard’s dropped a tough 5-3 loss to Oratory on Saturday.

Brenen Lavoie scored twice for the Knights, while Christian Mote also scored in the loss.
