The 2019-20 New Jersey High School Ice Hockey season is right around the corner, and The Morris-Sussex Hockey Report will be right here, once again, to bring coverage of all area teams.
This will mark the second season of this blog, after a first year which saw some growing pains. I had to do a bit of juggling, as time management was of the utmost importance with a full-time job taking up most of my time. That is still the case, but nonetheless, I still plan to bring a strong amount of coverage for northwest New Jersey’s high school hockey scene this season.
So what can you expect? Well, I’m still in the process of putting together my official plans for the season. To kick things off, coaches in the area can expect to receive an e-mail from me within the next couple of weeks for preseason information on each team. I plan on putting together team capsules during the week of Nov. 25, as part of the build-up to the puck officially being dropped on this season on Friday, Nov. 29.
During the season, my plan is to get out to at least one game per week, mostly on Saturdays. When time allows, I will try to improve that number. With that being said, one thing that I am looking to do this year is to do a nightly area roundup of all local games. What I will ask, is for all area coaches to please e-mail me their box scores after each game (to michaelgurnis@gmail.com) so I can include as many games as possible in each night’s roundup.
If there is anything people want to see in terms of coverage throughout the year, then I’m all ears. Feel free to e-mail me at michaelgurnis@gmail.com, tweet at me at @MorrisCtyHockey, or message our Facebook page “The Morris-Sussex Hockey Report.” I’m open to any and all story tips, and one thing I’d love to do a bit more of are player features to showcase some of the great athletes that are playing this sport.
I hope you all are as excited as I am for this season. To all coaches, players, and fans, enjoy the 2019-20 season!
