Haas Cup first round recap for Feb. 6: Mountain Lakes-Boonton rolls

Behind a hat trick from Lawson Fagan, Mountain Lakes-Boonton picked up a dominant win to advance to the Haas Cup semifinals.

Four other players found the back of the net for Mountain Lakes, with Kyle Wenzel, Eli Forman, Liam Caggiano, and Andrew Wilmot each scoring. It out-shot Morris Catholic 57-16 in the game as it improved to 10-4 overall on the season.

Brody Follen scored the lone goal for Morris Catholic, which saw its season come to an end with a 1-15-1 record.

Ethan Scanlon made 15 saves for Mountain Lakes to secure the win.

WHAT’S NEXT
Mountain Lakes-Boonton will face second-seeded Gill St. Bernard’s in the semifinals on Thursday at 6:15 p.m. The teams split the season series, with Gill St. Bernard’s winning, 3-1 on Dec. 17, before Mountain Lakes won 2-1 in overtime on a goal from Lawson Fagan on Jan. 22.

The other Haas Cup first round game is set for tonight, as fifth-seeded High Point-Wallkill Valley-Kittatinny takes on fourth-seeded Newton-Lenape Valley at 8:15 p.m. The winner will see top-seeded Parsippany in the semifinals on Thursday at 4:15 p.m.

Newton-Lenape Valley won both meetings with High Point-Wallkill-Kittatinny this year, by scores of 6-3 and 5-4.
