Morris/Sussex Three Stars of the Week for Dec. 15

By Mike Gurnis

Here are my picks for this week’s Morris-Sussex Hockey Report Three Stars, which are for games played through Sunday, Dec. 14.

Robert Hemenway, Parsippany Regional, Sr., F
Hemenway reached 100 career points last Monday as he scored a game-sealing goal late in the third period of a 4-2 win over Bayonne. He also had an eight-point game (2 g., 6 a.) in a 9-1 win over Newton-Lenape Valley on Saturday. He now has 108 career points (65 g., 43 a.).

Chase Olszewski, Park Regional, Sr., F
Park Regional has been the highest-scoring team in the area so far this season with 35 goals in four games in a 4-0 start to the year. Olszewski has been right in the middle of it, with nine goals and five assists to his name. He had a seven-point game (4 g., 3 a.) in a win over Roxbury last Monday, before recording a goal and two assists against Montville and two goals against River Dell.

Luca DeNichilo, Chatham, Fr., F
The freshman had a breakout performance in his team’s big 3-2 win over perennial power Ridge on Sunday. He recorded a hat trick, including the game-winning power play goal in the third period, for the first three goals of his high school career.
