Morris/Sussex 3 Stars and area Top 10 for Jan. 26

Here are the Morris/Sussex 3 Stars of the Week for games played from Jan. 19-25 This season, I will also be naming a Girls star of the week from the four area girls teams. At the bottom, you can also find our boys Top 10 for the week.

BOYS THREE STARS OF THE WEEK
Lawson Fagan, Mountain Lakes-Boonton, So.
Fagan had a massive week for Mountain Lakes-Boonton. He started it off with a four-goal performance, including the game-winner in a 4-3 win over High Point-Wallkill Valley-Kittatinny. He then had a hat trick and an assist in a 4-0 win over Newton. In total, his team scored 10 goals this week, and Fagan was directly involved in nine of them.

Luc Jansson, Gill St. Bernard’s, Jr.
Jansson made 52 saves to help his team earn a 1-0 win over Mount Olive-Hopatcong-Hackettstown. It was an important two points for Gill St. Bernard’s, which now holds a two-point edge on Madison as it looks to qualify for the Halvorsen Cup.

Jase Zangara, Randolph, Sr.
Zangara made Randolph program history this week, as he broke the program’s all-time points record which had stood for 22 years and was held by Dan Pencinger (2003). Pencinger had 176 career points, and Zangara is now at 179. He broke the record with a goal and an assist in the team’s 6-0 win over Manalapan.

HONORABLE MENTION: Mendham’s Brendon Eigner made his 1,000th career save this week. Roxbury’s Ryan Van Zile had eight points in a win over Vernon. Morristown-Beard’s John Gonnella had four goals and an assist in a win over BSM. Delbarton’s Jack Gerne had a hat trick in the team’s win over Princeton Day.

GIRLS STAR OF THE WEEK
Alex Donoghue, Chatham-Millburn, Jr.
Donoghue had a pair of big performances for her team this week. She had a hat trick and an assist in the team’s 4-4 tie with state-ranked No. 3 Trinity Hall, then had five goals in her team’s 7-2 win over Rockland (N.Y.).
