Roxbury earns share of Haas/Charette regular season title
Thanks to a 12-2 win over Vernon, Roxbury earned no worse than a tie for the Haas/Charette Division regular season title in a game played at Mennen Arena.
Roxbury is now a perfect 9-0 in divisional play, which equates to 18 points, which is four points ahead of second-place Parsippany Regional (14). Parsippany Regional has two games left, so it can still catch Roxbury if it wins out and Roxbury loses all of its final three games. But, Roxbury needs a win, tie, or overtime loss in one of its last three games and it will clinch the division title and top seed for the Haas Cup outright.
Ryan Van Zile led the way with eight points (2 g., 6 a.), and Chase Alven had six (2 g., 4 a.) for the Gaels (11-4). Michael Nelson had two goals and two assists, Brody Ozga had a hat trick, and Justin Katz scored twice. Griffin Warsaw also had a big day with three assists. Amanda Katz made 11 saves in the win.
Jake Chromcik scored both goals for Vernon (11-4). Klaus Harthaus made 50 saves.
Roxbury will take on Mountain Lakes-Boonton on Saturday, while Vernon will face High Point-Wallkill Valley-Kittatinny on Saturday.
