High Point-Wallkill-Kittatinny wins 2nd Sussex Cup in 3 years

For the second time in three seasons, High Point-Wallkill Valley-Kittatinny is on top in Sussex County.

After wins in round robin games over Vernon and defending champion Newton-Lenape Valley, the High Point tri-op picked up another Sussex Cup title, just the second in program history.

The Sussex Cup has taken on a round-robin in recent years, with Vernon, Newton-Lenape Valley, and High Point-Wallkill Valley-Kittatinny all participating. Each team plays the other two teams once, and the team with the most standings points at the end of it wins the title. High Point-Wallkill-Kittatinny defeated Vernon 10-0 on Saturday, before earning a 7-1 win over NLV on Tuesday night at Skylands Ice World.

In the 10-0 win over Vernon, High Point-Wallkill-Kittatinny was led by Anthony Tokar, who had three goals and two assists. Alex Sonvico added a goal and two assists, while Frank Korszoloski had a goal and an assist and Brady Reid had two assists. Landon Healy made 10 saves to earn the shutout.

Then, in the clinching game on Tuesday, Sonvico contributed three goals and an assist. Tokar had a goal and two assists, Nathan Shindelman had two goals, and Brady Reid had a goal and an assist. Healy made eight saves in the win.
