Jan. 5-6 recap: Major milestones hit in Randolph/Morris Knolls-Hills game

Milestones in Randolph’s win over Morris Knolls-Hills
There were two individual milestones hit in Randolph’s dominant 11-3 win over Morris Knolls-Hills at Mennen Arena.

Andrew George of Randolph recorded six points (two goals, four assists) to eclipse the 100-point milestone for his career. He has 48 goals and 57 assists for a total of 105 points in his four-year career.

Morris Knolls-Hills’ Jake McCloud, on the other hand, had two goals and an assist to reach 150 career points. He now has 72 goals and 79 assists for 151 career points in four years.

Vincent Crisafulli also had six points for Randolph (three goals, three assists), which improved to 6-3 overall with a 4-0-0-1 Mennen record. Keegan Melly and Jase Zangara each recorded two goals and two assists, while Shane Melly had a goal and two assists. Zack Levesque made 16 saves for the Rams, who will face Pingry in an out-of-conference battle on Wednesday.

Marek Kazik had a goal and an assist for Morris Knolls-Hills, which fell to 3-7 overall with a 2-3 divisional record. It will face Morristown-Beard on Thursday in Mennen play.

Morristown-Beard earns dominant win over Morristown
Just a couple of weeks after it needed overtime to beat Morristown, Morristown-Beard left nothing to chance this time.

Nick Squashic had a hat trick and two assists to lead Morristown-Beard to an 11-1 win over Morristown at Mennen Arena.

John Gonnella had two goals and three assists for Morristown-Beard, which is now 8-0-1 and is 5-0-1 in the Mennen Division. Evan Redman had a hat trick, while Peter Clark had a goal and three assists and Evan Jones had a goal and two assists. Mason Hriczov made 13 saves in the win for the Crimson, who will face Morris Knolls-Hills on Thursday.

Scott Williams had the lone goal for Morristown, which dropped to 2-7-1 overall with a 2-5 mark in the division. It will next face Colonia-Woodbridge-Iselin Kennedy on Wednesday.

Pope John’s big second period propels it past Chatham
Pope John scored three times in the first period as it defeated Chatham, 4-1, to win its sixth-consecutive game, at Skylands Ice World.

Luke Jarosiewicz, Cameron Guerra, and Magnuss Bars each scored in the second period to give the Lions a commanding 3-0 lead. Nicholas Moschello added an empty netter late to seal it. Mason Giordano made 17 saves for Pope John, which improved to 9-2-1 overall. It will next face Seton Hall Prep in a big Gordon Conference game on Wednesday.

Charlie Dunn scored the lone goal for Chatham, which dropped to 5-7. Snowden Lange made 26 saves in the loss.

Sisco’s hat trick sends KJS past Bernards
Braydon Sisco recorded his fourth hat trick of the season and eclipsed the 20-goal mark for the year as Kinnelon-Jefferson-Sparta defeated Bernards-Somerville-Middlesex, 7-1 in Mennen Division play at Mennen Arena.

The game was tied at one going into the second, before Cody Sutton and Sisco scored to put the team in the lead for good. Cormac Gibbons, Michael Pandiscia, and Jake Prunty all found the back of the net, as KJS out-shot Bernards 45-11. Brian Sisti made 10 saves as KJS improved to 8-1-1 overall with a 5-1-1 Mennen record. It is currently tied for first place with Morristown-Beard.

Zack Metz had an outstanding performance for the Bernards tri-op (0-6), as he made 38 saves and kept his team in it for most of the way. Conor Campion scored the lone goal in the first period.

KJS will face Fair Lawn-Bergenfield on Friday, while Bernards will take on Chatham on Friday.

SUNDAY, JAN. 5
Big third period sends Chatham past West Morris
Roman Kostrowski had two goals and an assist to lead Chatham to a 5-0 win over West Morris at Mennen Arena.

Luke Brendle had a goal and two assists for Chatham (5-6), which broke a scoreless tie in the third period on Kostrowski’s goal with 11:34 to go. Tripp Connor and Evan Thomas each chipped in with a goal. Snowden Lange made 35 saves to earn the shutout.

Jason Trezza made 46 saves for West Morris, which dropped to 7-4-1 and will face Mendham on Thursday. Chatham will next face Bernards-Somerville-Middlesex on Friday.

Claps, Donoghue star as Chatham-Millburn girls race past Randolph
Simone Claps had a hat trick and three assists to lead the Chatham-Millburn girls to a 7-2 win over Randolph at Mennen Arena.

Alex Donoghue added a hat trick and an assist for Chatham-Millburn, which improved to 4-1 on the season. Randolph (2-2) led, 2-1 in the first period on goals from Amelia Kolbik and Olivia Olechowski. But Chatham-Millburn struck for six unanswered goals, with Donoghue tying it before the end of the period, and then Claps gave her team the lead early in the second.

Randolph goalie Maria Dlugolecki made 71 saves in the loss. Sydney Sparks made 12 saves for Chatham-Millburn.

Chatham-Millburn will take on Morristown-Beard on Tuesday, while Randolph will face Newark East Side on Wednesday.

Madison girls pick up second-straight win
Brooke Gundlach had a hat trick to propel the Madison girls team to a 5-2 win over Cranford at Warinanco Skating Center.

It was Madison’s second-straight win to open the season (2-0), and will look to add a third when it faces Princeton on Thursday. Iris Piskula had two assists, while Scarlet Basich and Leah Jobe each scored in the win.

Madison trailed, 2-1 in the second period, before Gundlach scored shorthanded to tie it, and then gave her team the lead early in the third.

Clementine Dickson-Child made 28 saves in the win.

High Point tri-op falls in high-scoring affair
Alex Sonvico finished with three goals and three assists for High Point-Wallkill Valley-Kittatinny in a 13-6 loss to River Dell-Westwood-Emerson at the Ice House.

Anthony Tokar and Brady Reid each had a goal and two assists for High Point, which fell to 3-5 overall. It will face Newton-Lenape Valley on Tuesday.
