Morris/Sussex 3 Stars and area Top 10 for Jan. 5

Here are the Morris/Sussex 3 Stars of the Week for games played from Dec. 29- Jan. 4. This season, I will also be naming a Girls star of the week from the four area girls teams- however, there were no girls games for any of the four area teams from the dates listed, so there will not be one named this week.

THREE STARS OF THE WEEK
Mason Giordano, Pope John, So.
Giordano has had a spectacular season for the Lions with a .922 save percentage in 11 games in leading his team to an 8-2-1 record. He has given up just two goals in his last four games, and this week he had an 18-save shutout in a win over Livingston, which was his second-straight shutout. Then, he made 26 saves in a 4-1 win over St. John Vianney.

Talon Muscolino, Mount Olive-Hopatcong-Hackettstown, Sr.
Muscolino had a big week this week, stopping 58 of 60 shots which came his way. He made 22 saves in a 2-1 win over Madison early in the week, before making 36 saves in the team’s 1-1 tie with Park Regional on Saturday.

Jase Zangara, Randolph, Sr.
Zangara had a monster game in Randolph’s biggest win of the year to date. He scored twice with an assist to propel the Rams to a 4-3 overtime win over St. Joseph of Montvale, which was ranked No. 6 in the state by NJ.com. He scored the game-winner 29 seconds into overtime to secure the win.
