Zangara the hero in Randolph’s OT win
Jase Zangara scored two goals, including the game-winning goal 29 seconds into overtime to lead Randolph to a big 4-3 win over St. Joseph of Montvale at SportsCare Arena.
The teams went back-and-forth throughout, trading goals, until St. Joseph took the lead late in the third on a goal from Kyle Kondratowicz. But Vincent Crisafulli scored with 1:04 left to tie the game and force overtime.
Zangara finished with two goals and an assist, while Brian Cislo also scored for the Rams, who are now 5-3 overall. Quincy Mitchell made 25 saves in the win.
Randolph will next face Morris Knolls-Hills on Monday in a rivalry game at 6:30 p.m. at Mennen Arena.
Pope John continues hot streak with win on road
Jack Jarosiewicz had a goal and an assist to lead Pope John to its fifth-straight win, a 4-1 win over St. John Vianney at Jersey Shore Arena.
Cam Guerra, Nicholas Colatrella, and Michael Perry each scored for the Lions, who are now 8-2-1 on the season. It has surrendered just two goals in its last four games, with Mason Giordano making 26 saves in Friday night’s win. It will take on Chatham on Monday at 6:30 p.m. at Skylands Ice World.
Mendham picks up fifth-straight win
Brendon Eigner made 21 saves to help Mendham earn a 3-1 win over Ramsey-Indian Hills at the Ice Vault.
Hayden Bogart, Jake Fox, and Ian Aikenhead each scored for Mendham, which has now won five-straight games and is 6-3 overall. Balanced scoring has been key, but the play of Eigner in net has propelled the Minutemen, as he has a .928 save percentage in nine games this year.
It will have a short layoff before resuming action on Thursday against West Morris.
Madison falls despite Worthington’s effort
Nick Worthington made 56 saves in Madison’s 5-0 loss to North Hunterdon-Voorhees at Flemington Ice World.
The loss dropped Madison to 2-9 on the season. It will take on Montville at 6:15 p.m. today at Mennen Arena in Halvorsen Division play.
Newton-Lenape Valley shut out on the road
Newton-Lenape Valley dropped its third straight game, a 5-0 loss to Tenafly-Cresskill-Leonia at Mackay Park.
Adam Yacuk made 44 saves for NLV, which is now 2-7 on the season. It will have a quick turnaround before facing Roxbury today at 6 p.m. in Haas-Charette play at Skylands Ice World.
