Lesiak stars in Mendham win
Freshman Kacper Lesiak scored two goals in the third period to help Mendham earn a 4-1 win over Gill St. Bernard’s in Halvorsen play at Mennen Arena.
Gill St. Bernard’s (0-5 overall, 0-4 Halvorsen) took the lead early in the second period on a goal from Michael Tighe. But the Minutemen responded with four unanswered goals, as Jake Fox tied it before the end of the second, before Lesiak scored twice in the third to build a commanding lead.
Fox had a goal and an assist, while Ian Aikenhead dished out two assists. Will Andrews also scored a goal and Brendon Eigner made 12 saves for Mendham, which moved into first place in the Halvorsen as it is now 5-3 overall and 4-0-0-1 in the division. It will next face Ramsey today at 5 p.m. at the Ice Vault.
Mendham out-shot Gill St. Bernard’s 62-13 in the game, but Gill St. Bernard’s goalie Luc Jansson made 58 saves to keep his team in it.
Morristown-Beard stays unbeaten with dominant win
Behind two-goal performances from John Gonnella and Evan Redman, Morristown-Beard rolled to a 6-1 Mennen Division win over Chatham at Mennen Arena.
The Crimson (7-0-1 overall, 4-0-1 Mennen) remained unbeaten and moved into a tie for first place with KJS United. Trenton Fei, Marcus Cassidy, and Evan Jones each recorded two assists, with Lucas Krzanowski and Charlie Fernandez each finding the back of the net once. Mason Hriczov made 13 saves in the win.
Tripp Connor scored the lone goal for Chatham (4-6 overall, 3-4 Mennen), which gave it a 1-0 lead early in the second period.
Morristown-Beard will face Morristown on Monday, while Chatham will battle West Morris on Sunday.
Morris Knolls-Hills snaps losing streak with win
Brandon Strunck had a goal and three assists to help Morris Knolls-Hills earn a 10-0 Mennen Division win over Bernards-Somerville-Middlesex at Mennen Arena.
Jake McCloud and Ryan McGavin each had a goal and two assists, with Dylan Williams and Marek Kazik each recording two goals for Knolls-Hills (3-6 overall, 2-2 Mennen). Patrick Anderson had a goal and an assist, while Nick Trento made six saves to earn his first career shutout.
Jack Baker made 44 saves for Bernards-Somerville-Middlesex, which fell to 0-5 both overall and in Mennen Division play.
Morris Knolls-Hills snapped a three-game losing streak with the win, and will next face Randolph on Monday at 6:30 p.m. at Mennen Arena.
BSM will take on KJS United on Monday at 8:30 p.m. at Mennen Arena.
