Dec. 26 recap: Armijo’s 4 goals pace West Morris

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 26

West Morris 6, Park Regional 2
Rhone Armijo had a big four-goal performance to lift West Morris to a 6-2 win over Park Regional in Halvorsen play at Mennen Arena.

Armijo buried the tying goal in the first, before adding a shorthanded goal in the second to give his team the lead for good. He completed the natural hat trick 5:15 into the third period with a power play goal, and then Ben Barnhill added another power play goal minutes later.

Armijo finished with four goals and an assist, while Gavin Smith and Ben Barnhill each had a goal and three assists for the Wolfpack. Jason Trezza made 28 saves for West Morris, which is now 6-2-1 overall and a perfect 4-0 in the Halvorsen Division.

Michael Capozzi scored twice for Park Regional (3-4-1), which is now 3-2 in the Halvorsen.

Chatham 2, Morris Knolls-Hills 1
Roman Kostrowski’s go-ahead goal with 9:58 to go in the game propelled Chatham to a big Mennen Division win, a 2-1 triumph over Morris Knolls-Hills at Mennen Arena.

Snowden Lange made 34 saves for Chatham (4-4), which was out-shot, 35-25 in the game. It improved to 3-2 in the Mennen Division with the win. Thomas White also scored for the Cougars from an assist from Charlie Dunn.

Daniel Onufer scored the game-tying goal 18 seconds into the third period off a rebound of a Jake McCloud shot for Morris Knolls-Hills (2-4).

Parsippany Regional 7, Central Regional 3
Robert Hemenway had a hat trick and two assists as Parsippany Regional erased a two-goal deficit with six unanswered goals in a 7-3 win over Central Regional at Mennen Arena.

Central Regional led, 3-1, early in the second period, before Shay Anand cut the deficit to 3-2 with 7:54 left. Then, Hemenway scored twice in a span of 2:32 to give his team a 4-3 lead going into the third.

Matthew Hemenway had a goal and two assists, while Parker Enslow scored twice. Sean Coyle had three assists, and Andrew Nicholas made 34 saves in the win for Parsippany, which improved to 5-2 on the season. It will next face Mountain Lakes-Boonton next Friday in Haas-Charette play.

Pope John 2, Ramapo 1
Nicholas Colatrella scored the game-winning goal with 5:41 left in the third period to propel Pope John to a 2-1 win over Ramapo in the Ice Vault Holiday Classic.

Alex Mizak also scored for Pope John, which improved to 5-2-1 on the season. Mason Giordano made 20 saves for the Lions.
