Dec. 22 recap: Hriczov helps Morristown-Beard prevail in OT

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 22
Morristown-Beard 3, Morristown 2
Alex Hriczov scored the game-winning goal 2:54 into overtime to lead Morristown-Beard to a 3-2 win over Morristown in Mennen Division action at Mennen Arena.

Behind a goal and an assist from Nick Squashic, Morristown-Beard led, 2-1 in the third period. But Morristown’s Willem Kerr scored with 2:35 to go in regulation to force overtime.

John Gonnella also scored and Evan Redman dished out two assists for Morristown-Beard, which is a perfect 4-0 record (3-0 in divisional play). Mason Hriczov made 29 saves in the win.

Jake Buonocore scored and Hunter Hall had two assists for Morristown, which fell to 2-5 with a 2-3-0-1 mark in the Mennen Division. Artie Conover made 42 saves in the loss.

Mendham 4, Oratory 1
Eddie Fox and Jake Fox each had a goal and an assist for Mendham in a 4-1 win over Oratory in the Essex Holiday Tournament at Codey Arena.

Will Andrews and Cameron Smith each scored for Mendham, which improved to 2-3 on the season. Brendon Eigner made 27 saves in the win.

KJS United 7, West Milford-Pequannock 0
Braydon Sisco scored two goals and two assists for Kinnelon-Jefferson-Sparta in a 7-0 win over West Milford-Pequannock in the Ice Vault Classic.

Jake Prunty had a goal and two assists for United, which is now 4-1 overall. Eddy Brown and Cody Sutton each had a goal and an assist, while Brian Sisti made 22 saves to earn the shutout.

Girls: Madison 10, Newark East Side 0
Leah Jobe had a hat trick to lead Madison to a 10-0 win over Newark East Side in the team’s season opener at Mennen Arena.

Brooke Gundlach had a goal and three assists for Madison. Athena Halewicz scored twice, while Emma Wirth had a goal and two assists in the win. Clementine Dickson-Child made four saves to earn the shutout.
