Below are my picks for the Morris/Sussex Three Stars of the Week from the beginning of the season through Dec. 14. Additionally, this season, I’ll be picking a girls star of the week from the four Morris and Sussex area teams this season.
THREE STARS OF THE WEEK
Chase Olszewski, Park Regional, Jr.
The junior has picked up right where he left off from his first two seasons. He had four goals and an assist in a 5-1 win over Madison, and added a hat trick in a 4-1 win over Montville- as he was involved in eight of his team’s nine goals in those two games.
Braydon Sisco, KJS United, So.
Sisco started his season with a bang, as he scored twice in a 4-3 season-opening win over Chatham, before finding the back of the net four times in a 6-3 win over Morris Knolls-Hills.
Ryan VanZile, Roxbury, Sr.
VanZile has been unstoppable for the Gaels this year and put up some impressive numbers in the first week of the season. He amassed a staggering 22 points in just four games, with nine points against High Point-Wallkill Valley-Kittatinny and eight against Vernon. In total, he had six goals and 16 assists in his team’s first four games, where it went 3-1.
GIRLS STAR OF THE WEEK
Charna Torres, Randolph, Fr.
In her first varsity game, the freshman was the hero as she scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lift the Rams to a 2-1 win over Chatham-Millburn.
