Dec. 10-11 recap: Stellar Sisco leads KJS United to another win

WEDNESDAY
KJS United 6, Morris Knolls-Hills 3
Braydon Sisco scored four times to lead Kinnelon-Jefferson-Sparta to an impressive 6-3 win over Morris Knolls-Hills in Mennen Division action at Mennen Arena.

The win improved KJS to 2-0 overall and in the Mennen Division.

KJS erased a two-goal deficit in the first period, and later eliminated a one-goal deficit as it scored four unanswered to take the lead and secure the win. Eddy Brown scored two goals with an assist, which included the tying and go-ahead goals. Sisco scored the fifth goal and finished it off with an empty-netter. Brian Sisti made 23 saves in the win.

Jake McCloud scored twice and Brandon Strunck also scored for Morris Knolls-Hills, which fell to 0-3 on the year. It was the team’s first Mennen game though, so it is only 0-1 in the division.

KJS will face Morristown on Friday, while Morris Knolls-Hills will also face Morristown in its next game next Wednesday.

Morristown-Beard 10, Bernards-Somerville-Middlesex 0
Sophomore Evan Redman had a hat trick and two assists for Morristown-Beard in its season-opener, a 10-0 win over the Bernards tri-op at Mennen Arena.

Peter Clark, Nick Squashic, and Trenton Fei each had a goal and two assists for Morristown-Beard (1-0). Shane Posner and Austin Gildea each chipped in with a goal and an assist, while Caleb Elias made five saves to earn the shutout.

Morristown-Beard will face St. Joseph of Metuchen on Monday.

Jack Baker made 42 saves for Bernards, which fell to 0-2. It will take on Randolph on Saturday.

Parsippany Regional 6, Morris Catholic-St. Elizabeth’s-Newark Academy 1
Sean Coyle scored twice with an assist to lead Parsippany to a Haas-Charette win over the Morris Catholic tri-op at Mennen Arena.

Matthew Hemenway and Robert Hemenway each had a goal and two assists for Parsippany Regional (2-0). Shay Anand and Max Ingersoll each scored, with Andrew Nicholas making 23 saves in the win. Parsippany will next face High Point-Wallkill Valley-Kittatinny on Saturday.

Mercer Acuna buried the lone goal of the game for the Morris Catholic tri-op (0-2). James Boyce made 33 saves in the loss.

Montville 4, Nutley-Columbia-Bloomfield 3
Kaden Clifton scored the game-winning goal with 1:44 left in the third period to propel Montville to its first win of the season, a 4-3 win over the Nutley tri-op at Mennen Arena.

Cole Riley also scored to tie the game for the Mustangs in the third period. Logan Engle scored twice in the win. The Mustangs are now 1-2 and will face Gill St. Bernard’s on Friday as it resumes Halvorsen Division play.

Pope John 2, Gov. Livingston-New Providence 2
Nicholas Colatrella scored the game-tying goal in the third period to help Pope John earn a 2-2 tie with Gov. Livingston-New Providence at Skylands Ice World.

Liam Amabile also scored for Pope John, which is now 3-0-1 on the season. Pope John out-shot Gov. Livingston, 51-10, but Gov. Livingston goalie Scott Capan was stellar with 49 saves. Mason Giordano made eight saves for the Lions.

Pope John will resume Gordon Conference play on Monday when it travels to play Seton Hall Prep.

TUESDAY
Chatham 4, Morristown 2
Owen Young buried two goals in Chatham’s 4-2 win over Morristown in Mennen Division play at Mennen Arena.

The win improved Chatham to 2-0 in the Mennen Division and 2-1 overall. Richard Connor had a goal and an assist, while Charlie Dunn also found the back of the net. Snowden Lange made 22 saves in the win for the Cougars, who will have a big test on Thursday when it faces Randolph.

Luke Williams and Noel Gaynor each scored for Morristown (0-2), which will face KJS United on Friday.

Northern Highlands 8, West Morris 2
West Morris took on another state champion on Tuesday night, but this time fell, 8-2 to reigning Public champion Northern Highlands at Sport-O-Rama in Monsey, NY.

Joseph Bruno and Rhone Armijo each scored for the Wolfpack, who dropped to 2-1 on the season. Jason Trezza made 38 saves in the loss.

West Morris will be back in action on Thursday when it takes on Mount Olive-Hopatcong-Hackettstown.

Girls: Morristown-Beard 1, Princeton Day 1
In the season opener, Morristown-Beard battled to a 1-1 tie with Princeton Day at Lisa McGraw Rink in Princeton.

Julie Jasaitis scored the season-opening goal in the first period, before the Crimson gave up the tying goal in the second period. Hannah Mortazavi made 23 saves for Morristown-Beard, which will face Immaculate Heart on Friday.
