Chatham 10, Bernards-Somerville-Middlesex 0
In the Mennen Division debut for Bernards-Somerville-Middlesex, Chatham spoiled the party as it rolled to a 10-0 win at Mennen Arena.
Nine different goal scorers found the back of the net for the Cougars, who are now 1-0 in divisional play. Nate Crowley led the way with a goal and four assists, while Luke Brendle scored twice and Kieran Brendle dished out three assists. Roman Kostrowski, Thomas White, and Charlie Dunn each contributed a goal and an assist in the win.
Chatham out-shot BSM, 47-5 for the game. Snowden Lange stopped all five shots which came his way to earn his first shutout of the season and second of his career.
BSM goalie Zack Metz was a bright spot in this one, as he made several highlight-reel saves to keep his team in it early in the game. He finished with 37 saves. BSM will face Randolph on Monday at 4:30 p.m. at Mennen.
Chatham, on the other hand, will take on KJS United on Sunday at 8:15 p.m. at Mennen.
Clifton-Passaic Valley-Cedar Grove 13, Vernon 1
Vernon fell, 13-1 to Clifton-Passaic Valley-Cedar Grove in its season-opener on Friday night at Montclair State Arena.
Junior C.J. Viglietti scored the lone goal for Vernon. Freshman goalie Klaus Harthaus made 57 saves in his first career start. It will look to nab its first win of the year on Saturday when it takes on Parsippany Regional at 4 p.m. at Skylands Ice World.
Paramus Catholic 8, Newton-Lenape Valley 2
Newton-Lenape Valley suffered an 8-2 season-opening loss to Paramus Catholic at the Ice House in Hackensack.
Ty Dellicker and Vince Mancusso each scored for Newton-Lenape Valley, with Adam Yacuk making 19 saves. It will next face Hoboken-Weehawken-Secaucus on Wednesday.
