The MCSSIHL will have a much different look in 2024-25.
During the offseason, league members voted to re-arrange the alignment for this season, going from four divisions (three of which had five teams, one with six), to a three-division, seven-team set-up.
Essentially, the new divisional setup saw the top two teams from the Halvorsen Division last season (Kinnelon-Jefferson-Sparta and Bernards-Somerville-Middlesex) get promoted to the Mennen Division. That led to a ripple effect, with the top four from last year’s Haas Division (Gill St. Bernard’s, West Morris, Park Regional, Montville) all moving up to the Halvorsen.
What was the Haas Division last season will be known as the Haas-Charette Division this year.
Each team will now play 12 divisional games, with no mandatory crossovers.
The new alignment will also impact the postseason cup tournaments. Since the Charette Cup began in 2021, the top four in each division would qualify for the cups. Now, with only three divisions and seven teams in six, while there will be one less tournament, the top six teams will qualify from each division, similar to how it was prior to 2021. There will be a first round in which the third-seed will play the sixth-seed, and the fourth-seed will play the fifth-seed, and that will determine who faces the top two seeds, who will get first round byes.
