Feb. 12 Cup recap: Delbarton returns to Gordon Cup final

PENDY LIFTS DELBARTON IN GORDON CUP SEMIFINALS

Max Pendy’s goal with a minute remaining in regulation lifted third-seeded Delbarton to a 4-3 win over second-seeded St. Augustine in the semifinals of the Gordon Cup at Hollydell Ice Arena.

Delbarton is heading to the Gordon Cup final for the second-straight year, and will look to repeat as champions when it faces top-seeded Don Bosco Prep in the title game on Wednesday night at 8 p.m. at Codey Arena.

Thanks to goals from Pendy, Liam Donnelly, and Dante Rodriguez, Delbarton built a 3-1 lead through two periods. But St. Augustine’s Riley Capecci and Lucas Riccardi each scored to tie it up at three in the third period, before Pendy scored the clutch go-ahead goal.

Pendy was involved in all four goals with two goals and two assists. Rodriguez had a goal and an assist, while Egor Andreev dished out three assist. George Cote made 35 saves in the win, as Delbarton was out-shot 38-28 in the game.
