GILL ST. BERNARD’S AND WEST MORRIS TO MEET IN HAAS CUP FINAL
Thanks to second-period goals from Brendan Whiteley and Brendan Binder, second-seeded Gill St. Bernard’s pulled away for a 5-1 win over third-seeded Montville in the Haas Cup semifinals at Mennen Arena.
Five different players found the back of the net for Gill St. Bernard’s, which will take on top-seeded West Morris in the final on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Henry Smith, Julian Tramontano, and Porter Clark each scored, with Luc Jansson stopping 16 of 17 shots.
Gill St. Bernard’s is now 11-3-2 on the season. Montville, which got a goal from Cole Riley in the second period, dropped to 9-9.
In the other semifinal, top-seeded West Morris took down fourth-seeded Park Regional, 7-4.
West Morris, which is now 16-4-1, will go for its third-straight Haas Cup title when it takes on Gill St. Bernard’s in the final.
DELBARTON MOVES ON IN GORDON CUP
Jack Ross had a goal and two assists to lift third-seeded Delbarton to a 6-2 win over sixth-seeded Bergen Catholic in the first round of the Gordon Cup at SportsCare Arena.
Six different players scored for the Green Wave, which improved to 14-5 on the season, and took down a Bergen Catholic team which had just toppled the state’s No. 1 team in Don Bosco Prep in the Bergen County final just 24 hours previously.
Jacob Gomez, Egor Andreev, Michael Good, and Liam Donnelly each had a goal and an assist, with Ayden Puppe also chipping in with a goal. George Cote stopped 18 of 20 shots.
Delbarton will now face second-seeded St. Augustine in the semifinals on Monday.
