ZABRISKIE STARS AS VERNON EXTENDS WIN STREAK

Luke Zabriskie scored six goals with three assists for a total of nine points as Vernon defeated Newton-Lenape Valley, 11-6, at Skylands Ice World.

Vernon, which started the season 0-5 overall and lost its first three Charette Division games, has rebounded in a big way and is now 6-8 overall after winning its last four games. It has won five-straight Charette Division games, and finished the season in a tie for second place with High Point-Wallkill Valley-Kittatinny in the Charette. Tiebreakers will determine which team will get the second seed when the MCSSIHL releases the official seeds for the Charette Cup on Sunday morning.

Jake Chromcik tallied two goals and two assists, and Christopher Gay added a goal and four assists. Vernon led, 4-2, after the first period, and never looked back from there- scoring four times in the second period to pull away. Rick Bennett had a goal and an assist in the win.

Newton-Lenape Valley, which won the Charette Division regular season title, was led by Justin Zappe’s hat trick. It fell to 10-8 overall with a 6-2 mark in the Charette.
