Jan. 20 notebook: Morristown-Beard erupts in 3rd to beat Morris Knolls-Hills

MORRISTOWN-BEARD ERUPTS IN THIRD FOR BIG MENNEN WIN

Morristown-Beard scored four unanswered goals in the third period to snap a 2-2 tie and earn a 6-2 win over Morris Knolls-Hills in a Mennen Division battle at Mennen Arena.

With the game knotted up a two, Peter Cross broke the tie 8:10 into the third to give his team the lead for good. Kevin Fraga scored just 2:35 later, before Ryan Tartaglione added another shortly thereafter to make it a three-goal advantage.

Nick Squashic scored twice for Morristown-Beard, which improved to 2-3-1 in the Mennen Division and completed a regular-season sweep of Morris Knolls-Hills. It now trails second-place Chatham by just one point and leads Morris Knolls-Hills by one point, but has played six games compared to five for both of those teams.

Kevin Fraga finished with a goal and three assists for the Crimson. John Gonnella and Peter Cross each contributed a goal and an assist, Nick Zayas had three assists, and Grayson Strauss added two assists.

Mason Hriczov continued his strong freshman season as he stopped 31 of 33 shots for Morristown-Beard.

Dylan Williams and Brandon Strunck each scored for Morris Knolls-Hills, which dropped to 2-3 in the division.
