THREE STARS OF THE WEEK (Jan. 7-13)
Rhone Armijo, West Morris, F, Fr.
The freshman has burst onto the scene for the Wolfpack in leading them to their best start since 2010-11. He had a big week this week in dominant wins over Roxbury and Gill St. Bernard’s, as he recorded two goals and two assists in the Roxbury win, before earning his first career hat trick in an 8-0 win over Gill St. Bernard’s. He has 11 goals and 12 assists thus far in his freshman campaign.
Mason Hriczov, Morristown-Beard, G, Fr.
Hriczov has stepped in and put together a strong season for the Crimson in his freshman season. He has a .929 save percentage in seven starts, and this week stopped 29 of 30 shots to help the team earn a 5-1 win over Morris Knolls-Hills to notch the team’s first divisional win of the year. He also stopped 41 of 43 shots in a 2-0 loss to Pope John earlier in the week.
Alexis Riley, Montville, G, Sr.
Riley hit a big milestone this week as she recorded the 1,000th save of her high school career. A three-year starter for the Mustangs, she stopped 21 of 24 shots in a 4-3 win over Park Regional, before hitting the milestone with a 31-save effort in the team’s biggest win of the season- a 5-1 win over Gill St. Bernard’s.
